Not Bachelor of arts (psychology), just a Bachelor of Arts..
Like, if i pick all the psychology subjects.

Yes you can!!!!!!!!! Although you should take note that there is a set outline of subjects that you must do to get awarded a major in psych under a bachelor of Arts degree. You can't just pick Psych subjects and hope for the best.

2nd year: PSYC2011, PSYC2012, PSYC2013, PSYC2014
3rd year: PSYC3010 (if you want to do honours) and 3 other subjects of your choice or 4 subjects out of the ones listed of your choice. Go onto the school of psyc website www.psych.usyd.edu.au and look at current and future students for more detailed analysis of subjects (including syllabus) and psych at usyd

why is there a difference between b/psyc and b/a then?

2 main differences:
1) Being in BPsych gives you an easier path to getting into your honours year because it's already included in your degree (if you maintain the C average in 1st year and D average in 2nd and 3rd year), whereas if you are doing Arts you aren't necessarily guaranteed a place and have to compete a bit more (higher average etc.)
But if you're not thinking of doing honours you don't have to worry about any of this

2) the other difference is that in 3rd year Bpsych people must do 5 psych subjects over the year (30 Credit Points), whilst those who are doing all the other degrees (BA, liberal studies, science, etc.) are only required to do max 4 in total (I think it is? check on the usyd psyc website) to major in the subject

But to be honest in the first few years (esp. first year) it is very much the same. I am doing the BA(psych) at sydney and it is exactly the same as doing an arts degree. Things only change later when it comes to specialising and honours etc.

Lol I actually do the Bpsych so that helps. Go onto the usyd school of psych website there is plenty of information there to clarify things for you www.psych.usyd.edu.au and click either future students (which explains the basics of studying psych at usyd) and current students: in which you can see syllabus, degree requirements, course requirements (and I think there is even a list there to see if you are on track for a major?) Have a look there is lots there

btw, i THINK (but not 100% sure) that if you major in Psych through the BA you have to major in something else from arts as well

There we go, the above is an example of doing a Psych major under the Arts degree. The above timetable does not include the mandatory subject Psyc3010 which you must do, if you wanted to be considered for honours.
The EXTRA SUBJECTS are suppose to be filled with subjects for your other major............Get it!!!!!!!!!!!!
