wow, i'm quite suprised and encouraged now, thanks but how can that be as I heard that these subjects don't scale good or some mumbo jumbo that only science subjects scale and you can get in the 99s.

What about getting in the 99's with these subjects...

Adv English
Ext1 English
Legal Studies
General Maths
Legal Studies
Religion 1
Ancient History

People say you can get in the 99's with ANY combination of subjects, but if that is true, i take it it's a hellova lot harder with my subjects cos they all scale pretty badly.

I'm not sure but I think you could if General Maths doesn't count. But I am also aware it is very hard to get 90s in Legal.

How discouraging. If i come 1st in ranking, does that help minimise all the bad scaling? Or is it basically a lost cause.

Rank is important but you must score high in the HSC. This really pisses me off as people like you and me have chosen subjects we are good at and like and can beat other smart students in and are smart but yet they give us shit scaling. I reckon it should all be the same. For god sakes 4U Maths is scaling like 40% or somethin.

bloody hell
looking back on the HSC...if I had tried that LITTLE bit harder, I coulda been in the 99 club... :p

and yes, u can get 99+ UAI with any subjects so long as u get the marks. Its too late too worry about the scaling of ur subjects, jus concentrate on getting as many Band 6's as u can.

Somewhere...(Board of studies site I think) it tells you the maximum UAI you can get with certain subjects...some subjects (like general maths and standard english), it is literally impossible to get a UAI of 100-no matter how high your mark in the subject.

I think it is possible to get 99+ with all courses if you do well enough (not sure though...I didn't look at them all) but if you have combos with a few courses with limited UAIs, than you may not be able to...

Hospitality - is that a category B course?

Looking at the others, if you do well enough in them you could well get a UAI of 99+.

erm thats not true, u can get 100 with any combinations of subjects (by that I mean its possible, not probable though!)
that list states the top UAI achieved by a person who did that course, not what the maximum UAI possible is. Eg say for Std. English the top UAI was 99.85 (or watever), that means, in 2002, out of the entire canditure of standard english, the person with the top UAI that did std. english got 99.85

I heard a person got 100 this year (by careers adviser who heard from professor cooney) who did easy subjects like general maths and family and cultural studies (whatever that is) and business studies.

Can I ask it too?

I was just wondering what sorta UAI I could get with my subjects..

English Advanced
Mathematics
Information Processes and Technology
Software Design and Development
Earth and Environmental Science
Cosmology Distinction Course

(And Portuguese Continuers in 2002 - Got 82 for that :()

Is it even possible to get a UAI of ~90+ if I get 80-90 in those subjects?
