Cathode/Anode in electrolytic/Galvanic cells (1 Viewer)

The cathode is positive in Galvanic cells, and the anode is negative. Why is it the other way around in electrolytic cells?

In electrolytic cells, electrical energy is supplied. However in a galvanic cell, electrical energy is produced and so the polarity of the terminals swap for this reason.
