Cathode rays and aether (1 Viewer)

Ok, how does cathode rays (especially in the presence of an electric field) disprove aether. I wrote that in a prac exam (i did it a few months ago) and i got it rite (tick). Thing is, i don't no why because i either forgot or i just made it up (it sounds to knowledgable to make-up). Thanks in advanced.

Where in the syllabus did they mention cathode rays and the aether together ?
It's like writing an essay in Chemistry.

I can't say i've ever heard of this one. Cathode rays [electrons] shouldn't really have anything to do with the aether, save in the way that they interact with the electromagnetic force.

However, I'd be interested to hear more about this if there is any more to be said. Keep us posted.

Cathode rays were once thought to travel through the ether.

However, I cannot see how they disprove it. You may have got a tick because the teacher did not know for sure.
