Doing accelerated maths course, completing 2U/3U HSC this year even though I'm in yr11.

Subject selection is coming up and should I choose 4U? Currently ranked 1st in 2U and 3rd in 3U.

I'm not sure if I will definitely do well in 4U since I don't exactly find 3U a breeze, plus I don't want to forfeit my 2U rank/marks.

Is 4U really that important and >2U? I keep contemplating on not having to do any maths next year :awesome:

+ I would have 11 units if I kept it like this, 12 if doing 4U

umm what

You need to be really good at 2/3 U to be able to do 4U.
Most of the 4U topics are extension of 3U.

if ur going well in 2 and 3unit, i recommend you give 4unit a go.
worst case scenario- it isnt for you, and you drop it and keep your awesome 2 and 3unit marks.

4U has excellent aligning and scaling, and you are obviously very good at maths to be getting your marks! I have no doubt you'd pull a good MX2 result to knock your 2U out of water, unless your 2U was ends up like 99!

But even so, I think you should at least try MX2 for a bit.

Do MX2 for now. If you don't like it, drop it like it's hot.

I think your very capable of doing 4U but is 4U going to help you in anyway after you finish school? tbh I don't think 4U is necessary, i think you would be putting more pressure on yourself if you did 4U

If you want to do Engineering, then MX2 does help especially in the Maths and Physics subjects (obviously not all components, but it certainly is better than say learning complex numbers from scratch).

I love maths and I would have chosen 4 unit maths but I didn't feel I could manage 14 units so I gave it a pass and now, I asked my friend to teach the 4 unit concepts... So if you are really good at maths and feel that you have the time to dedicate to 4 unit, I recommend you pick it.
