First preference is commerce, and I want to change it to something else. Chances are I will receive the first preference. Is it possible for me to accept that offer temporarily whilst my late round application goes through, then drop the offer if i recieve a better offer in the late round?

Yes, you can do that.

But there's no guarantee that you'll receive an offer in the late round.

I also got a question relating to changing prefs as well.

All my prefs are at the same Uni (Wollongong) - I have 3 prefs listed. I wont get into my first, but have been told I'll definatly get into my second. The problem is, I have decided I want my 3rd over the other two. If that makes any sense..

Ok, my UAI was 78.05

the cut off's, I'm told will look like this for 2004

1) 80
2) 78
3) <72

So, I've been told (By the Dean) I'll definatly get pref 2, but I really want my third. Can I change it through the Uni? Or do I have to wait till second session, or even second year to transfer?

Cheers!

Ok, I want to change my prefs too. So it is possible to accept an offer (in case I miss an offer next round) while changing prefs for the late round? Uh, this is a stupid question, but how would I do that?

The same way you change your main round preferences, through UAC as far as I know. You change them after you get your main round offer.

The Dean is a person. They have a ceremonial role and are almost take a PR role with bodies outside of the university.

But they probably do more important things.......

another weird thing about uni is you'll always hear from the vice chancellor, but never the chancellor him/herself (I never have anyway)

isnt the dean of a faculty sorta like the head teacher of a high school faculty?

BTW - Late Round takes in about 4500 students. It's the final rounds that only offers 1000 places. I checked with UAC.

Is there any way to find out which uni's and courses make late round offers? Or is it basically just luck on a year to year basis depending on what's not full?
