cheap laser printer (1 Viewer)

i'm thinking of getting a laser printer for home, because i am a freak and like to have lots of print outs of everything

so anyway, where would i be able to find the cheapest...online stores in the sticky? i havent looked at anything yet, nor am i going to till my exams are over, but what kind of price can you expect to pay?

i dont want any features, just want the thing to print.

the price of laser printers have dropped dramatically in these last two years
you can pick a cheap one up for under 300....but quality wise it is not as good....but if you just print out work, ie, text files and pdfs then it is perfect!

warning! stay VERY VERY FAR AWAY from evil lexmark <- cheap and nasty
here's a list of the cheap laser printers which i would be looking at:
Canon LBP1120 Laser Printer
HP Q2460A Laserjet 1010 Printer
Samsung ML1710 Laser Printer

if i was to choose out of those three, all of which is under 300 with the samsung being the cheapest at around 230

i would take the HP
i can't seem to find the epson laser in that price range...hmmm i know there is one

oh and a question, what are the recurring costs for laser printers? i have no real idea...

like you have to refill/replace the ink cartridges...do we need to maintain the laser 'head' or whatever it is called?

laser printers use what is called 'toners' they rarely need replacing compared to ink cartridges....
it doesn't use ink, it uses hmmmm no i'm not going to explain it lol too difficult, if you want to know search google or howthingswork.com

a toner, depending on it's size really, will usually last around 800-1000 pages
also take note that some printer manufacturers actually rip people off by providing a toner which is half the size of ones which you would buy from a shop...the one that comes in the box with the printer they called it a 'demo' cartridge for you to test the unit....still most of them will last 300-400pages
this is in most of the cheap laswer printers which you wish to buy one lol

cleaning? i have no idea i don't own a laser printer, but using the ones at school, which i have once used to print 150 pages at one go, it was free!
didn't require any cleaning and the last page was just as good as the first page

laser is not as cheap as inkjet if you refill

HP inkjets are the easiest to refill.

yeh 'toner' is what i meant...replacement after around 1000 pages is pretty good. do we replace the toner, how much $ is that?

price of toners depends on a lot of different things

brand, what printer you have

but usually it will be under $100, max of $200 for expensive laser printers

they advertise it at 2500pages with 5% coverage, of course this is over rated and when you actually use it, this will be a lot less but will still be good

ive got a samsung ML-1310 , 1710 is its superior i think. it rocks, hasnt failed on me for about 3 years now. since then im onto my second toner, and i print alot of uni notes.

laser printers are good cause they save u money in the long run
I print everything....around 10-50 pgs per day and my toner lasts me 6months to a yr
and I buy remanufactured toners so theyre only half the price
