i do chem and phys and i go to zhangs hsc for both. i have been going since yr 9 and i have always found that the teaching was meh but the resources were good. also i couldn't cope with how fast paced it was but i was always gaslit into thinking i was stupid for not being able to follow.

the main reason why i want to switch is bc its so fast paced it skips a lot of content and takes away from the depth of knowledge. also i can never use the question types they use for hw and quizzes to revise for school bc they are targeted at very specific aspects of the topic and thy dont encompass all the different syllabus dot-points

do you guys have any suggestions for chem and phys tutoring? i personally dgaf about missing y11 content or mod 5 y12 content and im ready switch next term

If you want in-depth tutoring I recommend getting one-on-one tutoring, as they normally go through all dot points of the syllabus and are suited to your specific pace. If you are looking for a tutoring centre maybe consider Matrix or Sigma

for chem matrix online saved my life if you have the discipline to do it all online and study independently, you can just zoom through the lessons (8 in total) and the workbook over the holidays and then just do past papers to revise throughout the term afterward. the theory book was good and i liked the prerecorded lessons you could do at your own pace (they also choose the best of their teachers to teach the prerecorded lectures so i liked it a lot more than in-person matrix)

as long as you dont get eddie sigma is great for physics. Peak Hsc is the goat of chemistry, leagues beyond every other centre imo, roy fu and hasan ali are chemistry's finest.
what's wrong with eddie?

i feel like one-on-one is too risky and expensive. private tutors don't have proper resources and sometimes don't know what they're doing and teach you the wrong thing. i feel like a reputable place for chem and phys is the way to go like peak or cognito

omg that was exactly what i was thinking. the majority of one-on-one tutors out there are ppl that did well in the hsc a while ago whose expertise may or may not be up to date. and they dont stick with a structured syllabus so sometimes its tough to trace it back to the syllabus document and stuff. also it costs more and im not struggling by any means so i dont think its worth it
