btw which question is ithad a q from 2024 give "1L" and that was technically used in the calculation to find concentration, would you guys say to give in 3sf (the rest of values were 3sf) or 1sf (bc 1 is 1sf, they didnt give 1.00L)
even the hsc marking guidelines don't use the correct sig figs for a lot of qs ive noticed only matrix's answers do thatAlso for some reason textbooks ALWAYS get sig figs wrong what is up with that
IUPAC preferred names might be things like but-2-ene but the real world will ignore IUPAC and continue to call it 2-butene.
A name like 2-propanol is easy to say, while propan-2-ol sticks in the throat.

i hate it smsmmsmsmsmmsmsBro guys how the fuvk do u rmbr all the poylmer stuff i sctually cant
They likely won't specify LDPE and HDPE, but they might say any of the polymers mentioned in the syllabus. Or they might give an unseen polymer and ask to give possible uses and stuff.might be a stupid question but are we gonna be asked for the uses of polymers or to compare LDPE/HDPE or smth??? or do we just have to do stuff like draw the monomer from a given polymer (and vice versa)
damnnein, 12 days ago
Just memorise their structures and uses which are pretty intuitive from their names and everyday uses. And know what properties of a polymer, gives it certain characteristics. Then you'll be able to assess anything, seen and unseen.Bro guys how the fuvk do u rmbr all the poylmer stuff i sctually cant
What are the polymers in the syllabus? I don't know since I was allowed to pick any polymer for my internal assessment task and was weird and chose bakelite for some reason (watching too much dr stone)They likely won't specify LDPE and HDPE, but they might say any of the polymers mentioned in the syllabus. lol significant figure isn't mentioned in the syllabus. how have we got to a point where asshole teachers make their own rules?even the hsc marking guidelines don't use the correct sig figs for a lot of qs ive noticed only matrix's answers do that
tysm, gonna research them rn just in casePE
PVC
PS
PTFE
nylon
polyesters
they only care about sf once in the whole exam so its usually specified in the marking criteria for one calculation question in the exam - they then mark the rest of the paper without considering sf so its fine if u mess up oncelol significant figure isn't mentioned in the syllabus. how have we got to a point where asshole teachers make their own rules?
It's normally (but not guaranteed) in questions where the lowest sigfigs are 3 or 4. Maybe titrations or Keq or solubility.will the question they mark down for wrong sf normally be a surface level calculation?
uhh not too sure u can take a look at the past hsc papers and see which calculations quesitons usually get the sf in the criteria, but i would assume its probably the very first calculation q but idkwill the question they mark down for wrong sf normally be a surface level calculation?
yeah I checked, it's just one calc question and one mark that's it. Our stupid school deducts marks more than onceuhh not too sure u can take a look at the past hsc papers and see which calculations quesitons usually get the sf in the criteria, but i would assume its probably the very first calculation q but idk
