CHRISTIAN THE LION: MAN'S BEST FRIEND - Amazing Story + Video

Christian was a lion purchased in 1969 by two Australians living in London, John Rendall and Anthony 'Ace' Bourke (sometimes erroneously cited as Ace Berg) from Harrods department store. They had discovered him for sale in Harrods' exotic pets department and, concerned for his conditions and fate, decided to buy him.
Watch what happens later in the videos below. Just an amazing story, IMO. It's old but the video hasn't been released on the internet until a few months ago. For those of you who haven't heard or watched it just click on one of the links below. Animal lovers and all!

Originally internet released version of the story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVNTdWbVBgc

Version used in worldwide news: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adYbFQFXG0U

NOTE TO ANY MODERATOR: Please edit the title so that it appears as such above in the Light and Offbeat News Forum. I attempted to edit it but it only changed in the thread itself. Thank you.

Wow, I didn't know that George Adamson rehabilitated him. Awesome.

Yeah.

I find the bounds of human/animal friendships to be quite interesting and amazing, and proves that animals are not as bestial as we tend to portray them and actually can display affection with other species of fauna. Who knew that Christian would still recognise his previous owners after nearly a year.

Not really. Christian was treating George as a member of his 'pride'.

HAHA it just sounds so casual, "The pair bought a baby cub from Harrods Department Store after finding it in cramped conditions", and it just proceeds. I want a lion from Harrods too!

Yeah lololol. The video was filmed during the time and it was legal then, which is probably why it is so casual.

I want a baby Panda and Tiger. I wish I lived in the psychotic 60's. :)
