You've gotta be somewhat interested in physics to do an engineering course :p

arghhhhh, i'm so worried about dynamics. there's no way i'm going to pass this...specially doesn't help that i never come either, but that's not entirely my fault...clashing classes.

is this nasser guy going to be taking us after the midsession exam? i think he said something to make me think we were going to get someone else for the next topic. apparently the next topic is a lot easier.

arghhhhhh

yah yah

its pretty hard - the nasser dude SUCKS worst lecturer ever! kunt doesnt even give us the question and just blurs out a full board of integrals and derivatives

fgt kunt assumes we know what he knows... + the text book itself is absolute sh*t, its full of the worst examples ever.

best way to learn is from that Dr. gorwi dude (my tutor) - i need to steal his notes or something.

/EDIT: Excuse the language i will now replace 'fgt' with 'turd' and 'kunt' with 'egg'

/EDIT 2: i forgot to edit the first edit, i dun give no more

have you noticed that soooo many more people go to gowri's tutorials now? i've started turning up and more people who are in other tutorials go to his. he is really good. gowri taught the course last semester and my friend who had him last year still had all his notes...and now i have all his notes :D. must try to learn this whole course in a week before the midsession.

i agree, the textbook is complete shit too.

Hey guys, u am currently in year 12 and i have overcome the dilemma of selecting an engineering course, what would be your honest opinion, in relation to choosing civil at UNSW or USYD, what would u recommend. i aim to do structural and pro management. so ah ya, still tossing up between usyd and unsw. some feedback would be appreciated very much.

all engineering degrees are generally better at UNSW, and i'm not saying that just because i go to UNSW, because i would have gone to USYD except they don't offer my degree over there, and now i'm at UNSW i'm glad that's where i got into. the UAI difference between the universities is not indicative of how good they are, it's just a matter of demand and for some reason everyone seems to want to go to USYD, even though UNSW is a bit more specialised in engineering.

i'm actually not sure yet, just on some of the choices.
construction:
we learnt about construction stuff last semester (2nd year) and that was really cool, i liked that.
geotechnical:
i like looking at rocks and stuff so geotechnical engineering (2nd year + 3rd year) would be good too, but i think that gets pretty hard.
structural:
i'm supposed to be doing this this semester but because i'm sort of behind i haven't done this yet. (2nd + 3rd year) i guess this is the sort of stuff i'm into, but sometimes i find the maths a bit tricky...so i don't know if i should be doing this.
transport:
we haven't done this this semester, i think you study transport in 3rd year. i probabaly wouldn't do it anyway - it sounds as if it's more for environmental engineers
water:
i'm also supposed to be doing water engineering this semester except i'm behind so i haven't done this either. it looks very hard actually. sounds cool though. again, it does sound as if it's probably more for environmental engineers.

because i'm doing a double degree with civil engineering, i actually don't do the 4th year of civil, but i start my second degree then. so i'm all very confused at the moment and i don't know what i'm goign to do.

yes that's the dynamics one :) it's better than the lecturer, but pretty shit still.

yeah for sure :) only there's a wad of notes for each lecture/topic each with about 8 double sided pages. i don't know if *you'd* want to photocopy that much cause it could be expensive.
i'm also going to need to know who you are... :uhhuh:

are you serious?
i don't come to uni until 1 tomoz. i most likely will be sitting in the civil lounge between 1 and 2 (as soon as i sign my name off in the tutorial)
i'll bring some of the notes...when you see them you might not want to bother photocopying them, especially if nasser's exams are going to be outrageously hard and these lecture notes won't help

Photocopying isn't a problem... I have a photocopier at home :p
But dun worry about it now... Maybe sometime after the dynamics test?
