Hey guys help me decide plx ?

Civil

Advantages
- More friends
- Things that don't move are better to deal with
- Did ENGG1811
- Work placement only in final year ?

Disadvantages
- We build targets
- Not entirely my cup of coffee

Mechanical

Advantages
- Automotive industry
- We build weapons
- Very traditional yet adaptable
- Makes good use of Mechanics in physics

Disadvantages
- Less friends
- COMP1911 is recommended (dropped earlier)
- Projects

Mechatronic

Advantages
- Combines Mechanical, Electrical and Computing, good for modern advancement
- ENGG1811 is an acceptable alternative

Disadvantages
- Not traditional
- More things to deal with

lol, you want to do mechatronics, you'll want to make sure you can program. otherwise you're basically a mechanical engineer. Don't choose based on what is easy, choose what you care about.

Yeah, what he said..
Also, if u think about it, almost everything these days have electronics and computer parts in em, so in a few years time probably everthing will have em, and mechatronic engineers, who would've studies mechanical, computing, and electrical, will be at a huge advantage and would really be sought after.
At least thats wat i reckon.
Thats why im doin mechatronic engo.

is that for second year or second semester?
Would like to know for next semester but definitely next year.

EDIT:

Rule out Mechatronic, I don't plan to stay for more than 4 years and neither do I want to pursue a Master's degree but I can't delete Mechatronic from the poll.

Otherwise WOOT !
I can still do electives/subjects common to Civil and Mechanical next semester !!

Um, i hate to break it to u but all engineering degrees go for 4 years, including mechatron. Also, dont do civil, its very boring, building bridges and dams and stuff, whereas in mechanical u'll be making cool stuff like automobiles, or working for army making tanks, or with mechatronic u'll be making robots and stuff.

COMP1911 is part of the plan that mechatronic ppl should do. Its probably needed later on. Im doing all the subjects that are recommended for mechatron, including electives for next semester. Heres a link: http://129.94.54.77/content/current_students/Timetables.cfm?ss=3
Go to Year 1 and click on Plan Chart to see the plan chart for each engineering thingo, this is for the school of MMAN, so civil's not there, but it shows all the subjects that are strongly recommended for each degree, the first year plan for mechatron is exactly what im doing.
Note that plans start their major differences from 3rd year onwards.
This is just to give u an idea..
