Actuarial studies mainly involves discrete maths and lots of statistics-u know the guys that work for insurance companies and calculate risk assessments etc-only wanna do it coz its the only well paid maths thing.

HOW the hell you get 84/84 for 3 unit , must be an easy test, what test was it ???

An 84/84 for 3u is quite possible. In fact, at least 4 ppl in my school [me, haque, and other ppl] got 84. Its just avoiding silly errors. The test was rather standard imo, its just watching out for silly mistakes.

wth is actuarial.

Also, actuarial studies is the study of risk, basically its an application of mathematics and probability to financial markets or insurance [actuarials are the ppl who calculate insurance premiums]. Its quite a lucrative career apparently, but i heard that it is rather challenging. 4u math is a prerequisite for actuarial studies i think

ummm are there good job prospects? im good at maths but i hate it gets boring.

thanx yip if i knew i wouldn't have wasted so much time adding it in-yeah if u enjoy maths then actuarial studies is good-like Yip said its to do with risk management and statistics etc-it might get boring after working for 10 years say but the thing is by that time u'll have enough money to retire(i'm exaggerrating) but one of my family friends did it and he works in NZ and started off with 190K US-over 200K australian which is crazy.

i go to the crappiest school in the state average of everyone is the fail mark less than 50 == average 1.2% omg everyone leaves their paper empty to surprise the teacher and they want to get on the dole.

i know that half the state is beating me in all subjects
(the teacher is racist -she hates chinese people who top the hsc so she takes out her revenge on me omfg i hate english teachers who are underestimating me arghghghhh!!)

She may be racist, but the only subjective subject you do is English and to some degree Economics, but 89% sure is fine.

So altogether I got 91.5/105 and am ranked first

Chemistry: 83% and ranked 2nd
Physics: 82% and ranked 1st
English Extension 1: 39/50 (quite shit) and ranked 2nd

I still have Maths and Economics to get back

You know... these ranks are really irrelevant to people that do not go to the same school. if you were at jrahs, (james ruse,) and coming 100th overall, you probably would be doing better than someone that comes in the top 5 at a more average school.
