unsw rock at maths, but for an overall science its pretty dodgy stuff. for instance, in my science degree i can do mainly maths and fill the rest with crap like philosophy. no chem. no phys. no bio. not that im complaining.

Heh. I submitted my application to UAC (or U A C, as the lady voice pronounced it):
1. B Arts at UNSW - 75
2. B Arts at USYD - 83
3. B Arts at UWS Penrith - 70
4. B Arts at UWS Bankstown - 70
5. B Arts/B Education at UNSW - 75
6. B Education (Secondary: Humanities and Social Sciences)/B Arts at USYD - 83.25
7. B Arts/ M Teaching (Secondary) at UWS - new course
8. B Arts in Communication (Social Inquiry) at UTS - 84.15
9. B Socio-Legal Studies at USYD - new course
It'll probably change when I get my UAI, however . . .

Different universities have different core subjects. Usyd requires you to do 6 credit points of maths per semester in first year. You still have another 18 credit points to fill up (ie 3 subjects), which could be any science subject, or even a subject from any other faculty (but I think they only allow you to do one subject per semester outside the faculty of science).

Combined law? 99+ crazy requirement and not many career opportunity

Engineering? I know a lot of engineers turn out to be sales ppl

Commerce? How many ppl are doing commerce in uni?

Medicine? I'm sick of blood. Sryz.

Ok, my preference,

1. Commerce (liberal studies) University of Sydney -- UAI 98

2. Macquire Acturial studies + Economics -- UAI 97

3. Acturial studies ANU -- UAI 95

4. Commerce UNSW -- UAI 94

If I can't get these four, then I'll be an electrician or a plumber or a gardener, all better than tossing money to the uni moguls, waste 3-5 years and finish with HECS to pay.

Nah. Don't forget that you can change your preferences after you receive your UAI, up until January 4, 2007, for consideration in the main round.

What you have done is correct. Your prefrences should be what you want to do (thats why it is called preferences). Dont worry about the uai cutoff because it differs each year so just put down what you want to do first.

Mine are

B Applied Finance + B Commerce - Accounting @ Macq
B Business Admin + BA Jap Studies @ Macq
B Applied Finance @ Macq.

They're all high 80s, which shouldn't be a problem.

For the past 2 years it's been a UAI of 83 to get into my first preference, so it should be sweet!

Hmm... DFEE can be quite expensive over the whole degree(s), I would recommend you choose them if you really want to do that degree (if you don't get the UAI needed for the CSP option).
