Hi

im a student in yr12 rite now and I'm interested in doing commerce law combined degree at UNSW

BUT, unlike most law students i want to follow a commerce-oriented degree... the question i want to ask is.. how USEFUL is an 'additional' law degree ontop of ur bacehlor of commerce? (im thinking of majoring in finance n doing something related to finance n investment)

like wat kind of advantages does it give u.. increased career opportunities, higher wages??? i srsly hav no idea n my schools career advisor is useless n does weed haha

thx for de input :) relli appreciate it

i thought BComm/ LLB had equal cps?
as for finance and law.....i heard they work really well together...check out the job guide and look up financial advisor.etc etc..they say a law degree combined with finance is very useful and opportunities for employment are greatly enhanced...
ask ur careers advisor if u dont have the book already

no, because in BComm/Law u can only do 1 major and a couple of electives, whereas in straight BCom, u get the full 144 CP

hehe not my forum, but fun to read anywayz

Speaking of unreliable sources, has anyone noticed that those who missed out on law tend to bag it and try and tell you that there is a shortage of jobs for lawyers and they get crap salaries? And its like dude, you wanted to do law, stop being so obvious!

or close enough to that,

at least opening up a law practice is much cheaper than a medical practice

lol that seriously put me off med, plus the crappy work hours as a gp, and the 10 years extra study to become a specialist. its just not worth it...

say, for example, one missed out on the (immense) UAI required for a Law course and one was not the sort of person to give up, what other ways could this person get into law?

... i have to be prepared for anything :) hehehe.

a) Do it at another uni.

b) Transfer.

c) Fee-paying.

That's about it, really.
