I'm looking at Accounting and Finance for my Commerce majors, and European Studies and Sociology and Anthrpology for the Arts component, and wondered what might be my best choice for first year courses, considering (in the handbook) it tells you to choose two Level 1 Arts courses aside from the core requirements...do I pick one from European studies, and one from Sociology, or pick courses related to the Accounting and Ainance majors? Also, it says 132 UOC for commerce and 108 UOC for arts is required for the 5 year combined degree, yet only requires 84UOC for a double major in both...i was wondering what happens with the "leftover" units of credit, or are they just there to give us more options...

I might actually just do European Studies, just wanted to know what I should pick for my first year if I wanted to explore more than one area of specialisation.

(do I have until 24th Feb to enrol, or do I have to enrol by 5 today, or just accept the offer by today, part 1)?

I'm not really sure how double degrees work, and if you can even pick double majors in both, but I think the extra credits left over are meant for General Ed? Not really sure if that applies to double degree students >< Sorry!

But if you're stuck for ideas, just do the Accounting prerequisites and Finance prerequisites.

No, a double degree means that you don't have to do any GENEDs because the entire idea of general education is that you get a board range of knowledge, so it is only a requirement if you were doing a single degree. So having commerce and arts which are two entirely different degrees means you don't have to do any GENEDS, but if you were doing B Commerce/ B Economics, which are very similar, it would mean you have to do GENEDs.

seremify007 is right, if you are stuck on what courses to do, just do the core for either degree.

Im doing Eco/Arts so I'm in a pretty simular position to you. For my BA component, I'm planning to major in Politics (and Int. Relations) and European studies.

Generally you would want to do the level 1 courses for your BA, which are more or less just one course split over two semesters and given a different name. You will notice that almost all are structured sequencially ie.

For your first year its best to do the level 1 of one of your arts majors (like above) and pick up your second major year 2 - this way you dont get long gaps in your course. So pick whatever major you're most defenite in year 1, also this way you have a year to choose a second major.
