Whats the real difference, if I'm going to major in accounting?

You have to choose an economics major first, that is if you want to do Accounting, you can't just do Accounting you have to do Accounting/Economics. Which means no Accounting/Finance, whilst B.Comm you can just major in Accounting.

and spiritual being, you must be a whirlwind of knowledge of how it is in the real world :)
That would be an understatement.

I've been to hell and back. I know everything about this corrupted world that surrounds us.

I'm sure that being a university graduate, you would know about the worthlessness of a degree in terms of preparing you for the real world. It's just formal accreditation.

if you are speaking about corruption in regards to having connections and then bringing them across to the business from that channel, and although it happens, it has its advantages and disadvantages.

key advantages include:
- more likely to fit within the current culture in the business and doesn't call significant if at all an imbalance to them team dynamics
- another person would have to vouch their reputation for the incumbent individual for even an interview in regards to skill set, attitude, and, ethic. This usually results in the incumbent also working harder to make sure they do not douche out and make bad on their friend who referred them in.
- more likely to remain in the business and potentially reducing turnover external to the business.

key disadvantages
- you lose potentially better talent than the incumbent
- your business lacks diversity if everyone's ideals are the same with no one person to challenge the status quo to bring the business forward

in the end a business could produce high performance but if the attitude and culture in the business is terrible, you will unlikely be able to sustain the caliber of high performance if you lose the key individuals who drive that performance if they are unsatisfied with the culture in the business.

The degree itself

the degree is your foot in the door into whatever endeavors your pursue. it is formal accreditation but without it, you may struggle to compete against all others who have a degree. And it could be argued that without a degree, you are still able to enter and succeed in the business but there are ceilings if you are not a relationship builder.

You may find that you do not use some if not any of the theories, formulae, models that you learn at uni but it will more likely provide you the confidence, motivation, and higher order level thinking that you will be able to exhibit had you not obtained your degree. Most importantly you will know others in your degree who may be more successful than you and you can learn from their different formation in thinking about ideas compared to what you are use to.

However, I still think there are aspects in your degree that you will use perhaps not in your first job out of uni but future roles. It is important to realise that after uni you are still learning whether it be completing further qualifications as required by your work but also learning how your own team to department to company to industry works and interacts with its environment.
