I've noticed that not many people here do this debating... I think ?

However, I've just started this, and I was wondering whether anyone can give me any tips? Or topics they were given during yr10, debating?

Yeah, I did it; got to state too...until we had to battle Kings in the Kings Stadium - 300 boys, hungry for blood.

But hasn't the money been withdrawn from it for this year?

ummm... we did things like the gov't should appologise to the aboriginal community and reffugees should not be allowed in australia
our were mostly political

We had to talk about Australia's user-pays approach to community services.

okay....year ten included some REALLY strange ones...

Example: "It is better to plant a cabbage than a rose" - we crapped on about brains versus beauty, and what is really valued in society.

Funny part is that we won....

Wasn't the commonwealth debating competition cancelled this year because of funding squabbles?
