CompSoc has been around for 25 years this year. We are one of the top 10 largest societies at the UTS, and definitely one of the most active. We have 200+ members in any given year, and take it as our mission to help IT students have fun at Uni, get to know each other, and well not just be geeks.

sign-up at O'Day on Wednesday 25/2 at our stall in building 2!

Here's a basic rundown of what we have planned for 2004.

SEMESTER 1:

+ agm with krispy kremes -second week of uni!
free for members.
be bribed to come along to the annual general meeting and vote in the year's exec!

+ INSTALLfest
free for members.
This event for UTS:IT student members only as MS Software is only available for Faculty of IT students under the FIT MSDNAA Licencing Agreement.
Members bring their Laptops or Towers to the INSTALLfest and may get any or all of the following software installed on their machines for free under the UTS:FIT MSDNAA licencing agreement. (Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Visual Studio .NET 2003 and SQL Server.)

+ easter egg hunt
free for members.
easter egg hunt in Building 10 with free yummy hot cross buns. you eat what you find!

+ bbq & basketball comp.
free for members.
BBQ and basketball competition, usually between 1st/2nd years and 3rd/4th years. Have fun in the sun with free yummy food. Prove that your year has what it takes!

+ xbox party
free to members.
Our wonderful sponsor Microsoft buses up a busload of members (~60) to/from Microsoft Australia HQ in North Ryde where we party all evening in the XBOX room, playing up to 16 player multiplayer halo and other cool games like project gotham 2 racing and top spin. Get the opportunity to play unreleased games and have a ball playing on XBOX Live! Whilst up there were fed with a stack of pizza and our thirst is quenched by your fav. alcoholic drinkies.

+ trivia night 1 ($2-)
$2- for everyone
Strain ye olde brain. How much random trivia do you know? Find out by coming along! Win $100s of dollars worth of prizes: textbooks, games (PC/XBOX) and software and have a great time whilst enjoying the bar tab and snacks!



SEMESTER 2:

+ bbq & staff vs. students volleyball comp.
free to members.
BBQ and Volleyball Competition between Students and Staff. Its the ultimate grudge match of the year!. In 2003 the students won for the first time in 15 years, so come along and help us defend our title! Its fun in the sun with free yummy food. Take your revenge and prove that the students have what it takes to beat the the Old-Guard!

+ intervarsity smackdown gaming LAN
Feel the power of smoting your friends at New South or Club Macq at the Intervarsity Smackdown gaming LAN. Held at a net caf for easy access and hassle free gaming this is a fun fragfest filled day of the most hardcore gaming.

+ annual faculty of info. tech. Ball
~$50-60- for members (+$5- for non members)
the social event of the year for all IT students! strut your stuff and have a great evening all dressed up like high society! this is always a great night out.

the jerseys we had made were 70-
but we think we'll do shirts in the future cos they're more likely to be in peoples price ranges. (remember students are poor.)
