Because you can easily mask the alcohol taste with mixers.

That way they can get drunk and let their inhibitions down and do something their girlfriends would consider morally questionable. Afterwards they can blame their behaviour on the vodka and not knowing how drunk they were. Obviously it's just the alcohol that made them blow the entire football team... haha.

You can mask the taste of rum!....kinda....well no, I lie, but you could try!
