ive heard that we need to include the context of our text and how well it was received but how much do we need to write on both these things? also do supplementary texts need context and reception?

You shouldn't worry about a text's reception - as it virtually has nothing to do with the journey.

However, context plays an important part, as context shapes a composer's values. So the journey is influenced by the context in which it is written.

you could probably put a brief statement about how the context effects the ideas about journey in you supp text when you begin to talk about it. wouldnt hurt.
