Contrary to popular belief, BIOLOGY is not the easiest science subject. (1 Viewer)

i speak for myself when i tell you i was actually TERRIFIED of bio last yr bc i thought it was insanely hard, like everyone kept going abt how easy it is and how everyone wanted to do it whereas i knew 8 ppl from yr 11 (yr 12 now–class of 25) that were getting 60s, so i tried everything i could to not do bio

i even spoke to the head teacher asking her what she thinks of bio and she told me not do it if im more math based

Unfortunately, as luck has it, i ended up i bio bc
1. i got put into random subjects (bc i never submitted my subject form)
2. the deputy saw i had an average of 96% in yr 10 science and put me in all 3 sciences

i tried dropping bio but all the subjects on the same line were either sac or vet courses, so i picked up a language (externally) and did 15 units for the whole of term 1 just so i can drop bio, mind you i was not listening or participating in class at all (i still barely know my mod 1 bio)

3 days before my first bio exam, my friend asked how preparations are going and i completely forgot abt it so i grinded past papers for 3 whole days before and was getting like literally 0s for everything (i wish im joking) bc i didnt know any content, but i thought there is no time to study so i just practised

long story short: i got an 82%

so, yes bio is content heavy (tho i dont memorise my bio, like AT ALL (idk what a ribosome is or does gang 🥀)) but unlike the other sciences its a subject that is very 'preparable', you can know 0 of the content and still end up w a good mark (maybe my 82 was just luck tho) unlike chemistry or physics were knowing 0 of the content is absolute hell, you cant just spam past papers knowing nothing and expecting to pass, thats just unrealistic

thats why biology is viewed as an 'easy' subject bc relative to chem and physics (and the trick is 'relative to' bc on its own its not easy) its very easy to pass in it
Wait u didn’t submit ur subject form. How could h not do that lol. Also half my grade fails so it’s not easy to pass

1. i didnt know what subjects i wanted to do and i was fine w any subject as long as its not commerce related bc i actually loathed commerce sm in yrs 9 and 10 (i was forced into it)
2. me and my deputy are really close so i knew i can trust her w my subjects
3. subject selection did not seem like a big deal at the time

if half your grade is failing then you guys' teachers are just really bad

its not difficult lol its a stupid argument

biology tends to be the easiest one out of the three, meaning literally everyone chooses it

high performing students usually do subjects like physics, hence their outstanding band 6 performances

for example: alot of students do math standard 2 yet the band 6 rate isnt that high, compared to math extension 2 where almost everyone hits a band 6

does that make math standard 2 hard?

the more higher performing students that do a subject, the higher the band 6 rate is for that subject

Yeah it is the teacher. But thankfully I have a really good one. The other 3 suck. It’s not hard but they just mark really stupid like Eng and there’s so much content. One of my friends say it’s like the equivalent of taking 2 subjects. And memorising or that stuff just takes up so much time. Also isn’t eco like commerce related

A low band 6 rate does not imply a harder subject? Maths Ext2 has a higher band E4 rate (40%) than all of them. Does that mean Maths Ext2 is easier than all the sciences?

bro you have to see our biology class, we have like 3 or 4 bio classes, ours is consistently 10% below average compared to class 2 or 3. it's definitely a result of our teacher. the teacher we had was so bad, everybody talked about how bad our teacher is. cause in our school, we get different teachers for different classes even though they are the same subject. i felt like switching classes BUT YK WHAT, THEY ARE THE HEAD TEACHER FOR SCIENCE. ATAR DOOMED

coolcat you cant keep on shittalking others and calling everyone retarded bc you dont know how to allocate your resources efficiently
i understand the struggle w a shitass teacher (i had one for yr 11 chem now a diff one) as such i tried the best i can to self study everything even went to 'free trials' for classes bc well i couldnt go full tutoring, youtube videos, textbooks everything i can
did it pay off? no, my average is low 70s but im trying my best

remember just bc something doesnt satisfy you, doesnt mean we all must be unsatisifed
in saying that i do hope you can keep an open mind from now on

bro just study by yourself instead of blaming the world around you. if your atar is dependent on your teachers then get ready to be dissappointed
