What makes me better than other tutors?

Most tutors and tutoring colleges teach students by the old lecture method where you listen to the teacher and brainlessly parrot everything they say into your book. Worse, a lot of "99 ATAR" tutors just open up their old school notes and tell you to just copy all the notes they made. This is NOT teaching. It's a joke. The fact is, a lot of these "99 ATAR medical student" "99 ATAR law student" type tutors simply do not have time for you in between exams and studying.

As a copywriter, my job is pretty low stress and I work whatever hours I choose. If a paper can be finished in two hours, why sit in an office cubicle for 8 hours twiddling my thumbs? This gives me a lot of flexibility to pursue other interests I have - namely, educating people!

As well as this, my lessons are not lectures! There's no blackboard or piece of paper for you guys to copy out like parrots into a workbook. Instead my lessons are creative and emphasize on having the students discover things for themselves, I'm just a guide to help direct you in the right path. For example, for one of my current students in the 7th grade - rather than teaching her English by writing 15 PEEL paragraphs, I help her write a submission to an Australian literary magazine!

My idea is - rather than turning the kid into a parrot, help them become researchers of their own! This is literally the whole purpose of your education, something which is near impossible for a teacher to manage when there's 30 other students in a classroom.

So choose me if you want a REAL education.

IF you're still in doubt please message me on 0493774157 for my rates and references. We can have a conversation about how I can help you, your son or your daughter.

About me

My name is Tom. I studied math and English at the university of Sydney.

I currently work as a copywriter. I am currently offering one-to-one tutoring. I have a range of physical and electronic resources to help tutor my students. I am able to teach both in person or online.

I have experience teaching students with a range of special needs including; ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, non-verbal and Anxiety Disorder.

I tailor each lesson to suit the students requirements. I currently offer tutoring for students in Years 7 to 10 as well as Advanced and Extension English for Years 11 and 12.

I cater to all abilities - from students who may be finding writing difficult, to extension students wanting to excel further. I specialise in helping kids ace their Year 11 and 12 exams. I have enabled students to achieve Band 6's and high ATAR results.

I create a calm and supportive environment for students which is ideal for the many students I have taught who find English and learning stressful. I chat and build a rapport with all my students so that children enjoy lessons with me - even the least enthusiastic teenagers!

I guide students to understand critical concepts in writing and public speaking such as prosody, rhetoric and structure. In doing so, students are able to unlock their full academic and creative potential.

I strongly believe the only way people get better at a skill is by practicing that skill. The same is no less true in the case of essay writing! Every week I assign wrting tasks to students and review their writing as soon as they send it to me which returns back to my students fully reviewed within 1-2 working days.

I ensure students are up to date with all the required knowledge in line with the school syllabus. I also assist high school students with their homework.

I can help students fill in the learning and knowledge they missed from a disruptive couple of school years.
