If you are a fan of musicians and want to support them, artists such as The Cat Empire has proposed the following idea:

Direct from an email that I was sent today
"
  1. Play your favourite artists non-stop on your preferred streaming service.
  2. Consider moving to a paid streaming subscription if that is manageable for you.
  3. Create a playlist; name it Lockdown Get Down and share it with your friends.
  4. Post your Lockdown Get Down photos and videos with hashtags #lockdowngetdown and #thecatempire so we can see you all rocking out at home. "

The rate of increase in Australia seems to be remaining pretty constant. Around every four days the number doubles. Whilst it’s not great it’s actually better than a lot of other countries at the moment, includng the big European countries, the UK and the US.

Makes me think of the rule of 72.

Had a look at the infection data for a few countries. The bad news is that it looks like the rate of infection in the US has overtaken that of Iran and Italy in a similar period. Australia seems to be doing alright so far and hopefully that rate is slowed once the impact of the restrictions kick in - though that might be offset by that massive blunder of the cruise ship infections in Sydney in the last few days.

Keep in mind that the number of cases isn't necessarily the actual number of cases since lack of testing means lots of the cases will be undiagnosed

They say the true doubling rate is pretty stable at about 6 days. The reason you see rapid increases in other countries is an artefact of recent increases in testing. Looks like we’re down Netherlands trajectory, 4000 ish in one week.

There was an article on SMH where some person from UAC was like Year 11 marks are a good predictor for HSC or something, if worse comes to worse. But they can't do that right? That's quite unfair tbh.

NSW premier says she will introduce a 'more comprehensive' lockdown of non-essential services

"Here is the full statement from the NSW premier, Gladys Berejiklian, on a “more comprehensive lockdown of non-essential services” in NSW.

The statement reads:

Tonight I will be informing the National Cabinet that NSW will proceed to a more comprehensive shutdown of non-essential services. This will take place over the next 48 hours.

Supermarkets, petrol stations, pharmacies, convenience stores, freight and logistics, and home delivery will be among the many services that will remain open.

Schools will be open tomorrow, though I will have more to say on this issue in the morning.

I will update NSW tomorrow morning about the impacts and our plans following the National Cabinet."

A way they could do it is have uni faculties do their own independent tests to see if the students are capable of being in the course. I think this was and still might be to a small extent how university works in Eastern Europe.
