WAM is your Weighted Average Mark. It's basically your overall average for all your courses, depending on the weighting of each course (units of credit, UOC).

WAM = (course1 mark)*(UOC)/(total UOC) +
(course2 mark)*(UOC)/(total UOC) +
(course3 mark)*(UOC)/(total UOC) + ....

This is how to work out the GPA according to Macquarie uni (I'm pretty sure it varies between other unis):

http://www.deanofstudents.mq.edu.au/gpa.htm

I reckon the WAM system that UNSW uses is much fairer, since with the GPA system is doesn't matter what actual mark you get for a course, but just the grade (credit, distinction etc) matters. Say if a student gets 84 for a course, and another gets 76, they will still get the same GPA because they both got distinctions.

lol
yeah pretty hard...coz I want to transfer to Law
u just have to do all your tutorial homework every week, and make sure you're up to date, and start studying for exams at least 2 weeks before the exams...its easy to say, but most ppl dont, bcoz the uni life is vastly different to HSC life

Yep, having the same WAM is extraordinarily coincidental.

That's one way. Uni life isn't all that different from HSC life - independent thought is encouraged to a larger extent, I suppose, but that's all to the good...
