fucking pc people piss me off.

the fact that they are of middle eastern appearance, is very important, and worth mentioning in a news article because:

1. there were a group of 20 of them
2. they were attacking 3 caucasian people

the fact that we've all heard of lebanese gangs at train stations etc. and news stories like this should be enough to conclude that something in there culture is violent, something is wrong.

if that's racist, then i dont give a shit.

them attacking volunteer lifesavers is so incredibly wrong, your average lebanese teenager will bash people up in gangs all day, yet a surf life saver has to undergoe a shitload of training, and do an all-day patrol of the beach, unpaid.

ok reclaim its not like arabs have set up military posts there or something the beach has not been stormed!!!!!!!! its so wierd they can just take the beach whenever they want
It's more about having to be in fear of these gangs, in a place that all should be able to enjoy freely. It's also about the disrespect that they show for the other people on the beach, and the lifesavers, who volunteer to keep everyone safe.

That said, those locals who would be fired up enough to go and try to 'reclaim the beach' this Sunday, despite the gangs coming to the area, are probably wanting a fight. What may have started as a peaceful protest will undoubtedly attract violence. aaaman, someone may very well die.

Man take that back. A true Aussie hero named David Boon, a man who drank sumthin like 54 bottles of beer on a flight from Sydney to London (he set the record) was from tassie. As was ricky ponting (altho he lost us the ashes it's still all good).
Btw im actually from cronulla not taswegia and I reckon we should just let the cops deal with these problems. Whoever is causin a ruckus at the beach and threatening the safety of others, whether they be white, lebanese, martian...tell em to fuck off or they will arrest them. Sound like a police state. Maybe but at least people will be able to go to a public and enjoyable beach without fear. And I reckon the word ethnic should stop being thrown around. No wonder why people are gettin pissed off.
Also I have mates who have been beatin up by surfy cunts, why don't we tell them to go back home? or at least get lost to coogee or sumthin. Stop this racist shit and everyone can enjoy the beach. It is a fucking huge beautiful beach, no1 should have to miss out.

Police have lost 18 officers in Cronulla in the past... (according to today's SMH).

Arrest might be a health hazard. Bring out rubber bullets, I say.

Dunno. When nasty clumps of people started abusing beach-goers?

The paper didn't elaborate on "lost", so it could mean anything- wounded and pulled out of that area, AWOLed, killed and dumped somewhere remote.

Sudanese people I know are very kind and have been properly and warmly welcomed into Australia and there is almost no bad blood between them and Aussies. On the other hand, there are problems between them and the Muslims (not just Lebanese) as they have had bad experience in their homeland with people forcing their religion on them.

On the other hand, i believe with the Lebanese the government turned their back on them when most of them arrived in the 1970's with the Civil War as well as the culture shock which was a very Anglo-Saxon and Christian society they had been brought into and therefore had nothing in common. In countries in Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico) the Arab population is very well integrated and not much prejudice is brought by. On the other hand Lebanon is one of the "recovering" rich countries in the Middle East and a slow but steady rate of re-emigration from Australia is occuring.

Now with the Shire residents efforts at reclaiming the Beach i think there may not be a very bright future for the beach...
There was a situation in Sudan a long time ago- a war between them and eritriea- it was seen as a muslim christian thing but i reckon it was all sparked during the cold war when America and Russia backed opposing sides then switched sides and dumping weapons all over the place.

Later on, with the weapons filling up the country a civil war broke which was very recent- Arab militias (this is what i got from the news) have been attacking sudanese- and from the media reports ive seen they didnt discriminate between muslims and christians. Its just that the christians have a resistance force and they want to establish an independant state. All this intolerance of each other- it can only lead to destruction.

North Africa i believe was christian before it became muslim- berbers, visigoths populated the place - but i doubt they were catholics- they were either coptics (in Egypt), judeo-christian as in eithipia etc and some other sect of christianity (as in the NW where i believe they were a more monotheistic form of christianity and rejected by the church). Nigeria today is like 60% muslim but it has been under both muslim and christian rule- muslims have ruled it for the last 400 years but they didnt force the religion on the christians or the other faiths there.

With regards to the lebanese migration, i was under the impression that most lebanese migrants were of christian origin (?) Lebanon is a christian country believe it or not!

I just hope this situation will ease down calmly so we can work together and fix it- ive been to cronulla and seen heaps of lebs there but they all left before sunset and didnt this happen at night??? Theres different kinds of lebs- and a small fraction of the lebanese population (im not leb - but ive got heaps of leb friends) are into gangs- a very small proportion- there used to be a gang behind my street: its called teleopea street if u remember the news.... but now all the gangs have dissapeared that u wouldnt know they ever existed!

its just like Al-Qaeda for those of you who watched that doco on sbs today- its like it never existed!! :)

It has not been stated what religion these gangs are. With 55% of the Lebanese population Christian maybe there are some predispositions that the entire population is Muslim. Btw, the ringleader has a distinctive tattoo, which is not allowed in Islam.

Lebanon was a Christian majority country until emigration to other parts of the world (mainly America) leveled out the balance between Christians and Muslims. After all of the recent drama, it is recovering fast. My dads workmate is Lebanese Muslim and he is re-emigrating next year to his village along with thousands of others from that particular village who live all over the world (like New York, Germany and Brazil). With the bad mouthing of the community in Australia, this may as well happen on a larger scale.

South America is currently seeing a recent influx of Muslim Arabs as opposed to previous waves of predominately Syrian & Lebanese Christians.

If there is gonna be a fight on Sunday, I can definately sense someone will be killed, I can feel it in me waters...
