Could someone please explain to me how they got from the first step to the second?
sin pi/35 t = 0
pi/35 t = pi
hence t = 35 minutes....

The first time for t > 0 that is when . (Because the first positive x-intercept of the graph of y = sin x is at , and think of the as 'x'.)

Also because sin (x) =0 when x= 0 and pi
however, it can't be zero because said "AFTER" a particular time.
