just because the word dithering isnt there
doesnt mean you cant be asked questions on it
well this is what i expect:

conditions:

1) the word is not in the syllabus
2) it's not in the textbook the school issues us
3) my teacher didn't go over dithering at all.

action:

i don't expect to define a word i have never heard of in a trial exam.

i think i've spent way too much time trying to fight for these elusive 2 marks. we'll see what happens when i get my test back.

If you had no way of learning it, then wouldn't that mean that everyone else in your class also would not possibly have answered it correctly, and you're not disadvantaged at all then?

Also, have you looked at the syllabus? It's an outline of topics to learn, not a description of every minute area and term you will need to know. Most of the questions set in exams arent' specifically referred to in the syllabus, but fall under a general category.

Also, the reason the schools pay for externally written exams is so that its not set by the school, to prepare you for the HSC. If the same type of thing happens again in the HSC, they aren't going to discriminate based on which school used which textbook and etc...
