i think so too. cssa questions are more specific and sometimes abstract. very different to independent and the actual hsc. so if your school is setting cssa trials, practice!

One of our economics teachers is writing the Independent economics paper with Tim Riley...
Which means ridiculously harsh marking guidelines lol

From my experience I must disagree - frequently the CSSA trial questions are either from past HSC papers or have even appeared word for word that year in the HSC. I suppose it could depend on the subjects of course and I am only talking about the Histories which I teach.

um.. the subjects that are most difficult in doing the cssa trials in my opinion are:
-chem
-phys
-math ext. 2

i dont know for more literate subjects, but common feedback is that csssa is harder

CSSA just vaguely state what they want you to do in the question so it will be more difficult for you to socore full mark in your response. In my opinion, that's why they appear to be 'harder' than Independent papers.

If you want a truely challneging paper then try Exam Choice. Their questions are quite challenging; much more than CSSA in my opinion.

exam choice does not look like a hsc style paper, however i did do a exam choice paper in my half yearlys for physics 2008 mixed with 2009 and scored 90%

however multiple choice is quite difficult
