Hey guys, I'm writing up this prac where you have an aluminium strip with each end connected to a DC terminal, and a horseshoe magnet.
My problem is, using the right hand rule I have the magnetic field around the strip moving in a clockwise direction (looking down) and the north side of the horseshoe magnet on the left, and south side on the right.
I just don't understand why the foil strip moves, if both the north and south side are attracting or repelling, doesn't this mean that the strip should stay still?
Any help explaining this to me would be greatly appreciated.
