"Curtin has applied for accreditation from the Institute of Actuaries of Australia for exemptions from Part I of the Institute Course. Accreditation is a fairly lengthy process and until accreditation is granted we are working with one of the accredited universities in the eastern states to provide the best outcome for our students."

taken from, http://www.maths.curtin.edu.au/students/ugbscact.html

The uni's offering acst will then be:

1. Macquarie
2. UNSW
3. Melbourne
4. ANU
5. Curtin

So that means Mac people will be competing against 4 other Actuarial schools. Is it just me or is the Actuarial degree getting more popular every year?

don't worry, at least we can say, we have not only a better actuarial depart, but a better commerce/science/whatever department in general (the latter can't be said in comparison to unsw).

they are more reputable locally and internationally in terms of just commerce (which includes finance) excluding actuarial studies

they have more industry contacts/relations and money

and there are prolly a few more reasons
