yes u need pass in acst211 to do acst243. You need pass in acst243 to do acst344. you also need a cr in acst243 to get exemption from iaa. And finally, yes acst211 and acst243 are only taught once a year.

the only actuarial program's units that i know of which can be studied in summer school are econ110 and econ201.

Yeh you're right they do seem smart, but a few of them were always stressing and studying, and still only managed P.

That's the back left tyre that's flat hey? It has a really slow leak. Problem is a don't have a license or a foot pump, so i haven't been able to pump it up (aside from the fact that i've been away for 5 weeks).

I'm coming back tomorrow. You moving in on sunday?

In answer to that, and William above, Acst243 will be offered for the last time in 2004 (my year is the last to do Acst243). (As a side note from 2005, the exemption subject has been combined with Acst344, and its now called the Core Technical Subject "Modelling". This will simply mean "Survival Models" will get you the exemption.) You'll be doing Acst255 whose prereqs I'm not sure and haven't read anything on yet.

The Department says that if you fail Acst243, you can attempt the equivalent unit at ANU and if you achieve a Credit grade (this is offered in Summer), you'll be allowed to continue with Acst344, however you won't be exempt from that subject.

Firstly, Acst344 will be offered for a last time in 2005. It's sort-of equivalent will be offered from 2006 onwards. In short, many of the units in 2nd and 3rd year will be juggled around. (For my year, Acst344 is a prereq for second semester 3rd year units.)

The below is what the 2004 intake (year of entry) will be studying later on.
http://www.actuary.mq.edu.au/programs/2004_BCom_ACST.pdf

2nd year, 2nd semester
ACST255 Contingent Payments 1 3 CT5
STAT271 Statistics I 3 CT3
ECON201 Macroeconomic Analysis 4 CT7

3rd year, 1st semester
ACST300 Insurance and Superannuation Practice 4
ACST354 Survival Models 4 CT4
ACST356 Mathematical Theory of Risk 3 CT6

3rd year, 2nd semester
ACST305 Quantitative Methods for Asset Liability Management 4 CT8
ACST355 Contingent Payments 2 3 CT5
ACST357 General Insurance Pricing and Reserving 3 CT6

The relevant prerequisites haven't yet been published, except for the existing and unchanged units, eg. Acst211, Acst200.

Info can be found at Actuarial Studies Dept and Macq Handbook provided they release them.

Ah ok thanks for the info. Hopefully i won't have to worry about the failling 243 (or 255) part.
