Hey, Has anyone got the motor that is explained in the Jacaranda textbook to work ? The one with the commutator and all ...
I need to make one b4 tuesday, and that one ain't working

do you have to make one exactly like the one in jacaranda or can u make just a DC MOTOR

lolz, we made one last year... we made it turn quarter of a cycle (ie, 90%)lolz den it stopped there... =p blehz shit... ahahahha

cuz u can't make it as perfect as ideal situation, so like many factors, such as friction, rough surfaces slow the axle down... and then, angular velocity reached 0 when the loop is like veticle... =p blehz

I too tried making it this year and was able to get it to work either. Could get 1/4 turn at best as well.

A few people in my class got a motor to work brilliantly. They even attached a handcrafted fan out copper.

Heres some things i noticed they did differently from the book.

1. Add extra magnets.
2. Alumnium foil = crapness. Used copper for brushes and commutator.
3. Turn up the power supply.
