for the dot pt; deduce the ions present in a sample from the results of tests, do we have to memorize all of the flow diagrams etc? What do we have to know for this one?
Ta
Seriously, try to remeber all the flowcharts and stuff, and try to get a solubility table from somewhere and memorise as much as you can
in the exams they'll ask you things like: I have either Sulfate or Carbonate ions in a solution. How do I determine which one it is? Or how do you distinguish between Barium and Calcium ions?
If you have a practical exam, it will most likely be based on this too.
I did the prac test! It was fun. The recognising the cations and anions one. Part of it was to fill out a flow chart. So remember the flowchart. Any flowchart. But it's easier to memorise the tests for the ions.
An easy way to remember? I written each cation/anion on separate A3-sized papers in a display folder. Then I made smaller copies and stuck them on the wall facing my toilet. Toilet...
