Hi all,

I am a first year computer science student, studying in UNSW, I am doing my semester 1 here. I am very glad and happy that I can be able to enter this university because from the bottom of my heart, I pay a lot of effort to get into it. Now, I have another obstacles ahead of me. As everyone knows, UNI is different from high school, as I enrol in this UNI late and I have been moving around UNSW for the accommodation as I am an International student because the homestay and accommodation that I find before is not that good. Can everyone give me some hints and guide what I can do because I lag behind a lot now already in my studies in MATH1131, MATH1081 and COMP1917. I don't want to waste this opportunity. So, I want to do better.
P.S. I miss a number of lectures and tutorials and I have got thyroid illness. So, UNI is indeed quite hard for me.

Cheers,

"All CSE International Undergraduate Students are invited to an Open Discussion next Monday, 21st September."

I got that email today, you would have too. you might want to consider going and seeing if they can help you out.

as for your courses, MATH1131 isnt that hard. if you go to the tutorials and work hard, you can pass, if you work really hard, you could get a credit. the final exam is worth 64% I think, so just keep working and you will be fine.

MATH1081 is harder but I found the final exam to be alright and I have heard that some "not-very-smart" people have managed to pass the course. so again, same as MATH1131, go to the tutorials and try hard and you will be ok. the final exam is worth 80% for this course so it is not too late at all if you work hard.

COMP1917 is all about understanding how to use C correctly. make sure you do the labs and work hard in the project, start early. things are much easier when you start early. when I was doing COMP1917, I started the project very early. and because of this I actually found the project to be easier than task 1 and task 2 and I got better marks because of it. so starting early is the best advice I can give you here

I think the main thing is that you work hard for the remaining 6 weeks so that you do not fall any further behind

if you have any questions about any of these subjects, feel free to post them up here and myself, and I'm sure a few other guys people on this forum, will do our best to help you out
