Anyone got any good photos of that experiment? Aside from stuff you can get of the net. Just wondering if you guys have ones from your own experiments at school. Our school's are quite bad... especially the one showing striations and Faraday's dark space.

Also, just a question, with the different pressures, our teacher says that it is measured in the amount of mercury. What does that mean? There are markings on the side of the tube - 6mm, 3mm etc. What does mm mean? How much mercury is in air of standard air pressure?

Standard air pressure is 760 mm Hg.

Your tubes are calibrated with an old mercury barometer, where they measured air pressure based on the difference in level between two tubes of mercury or the outside level and that in a vacuum
