*cough*bullshit*cough*

Their business model was ridiculous. Apparently they sacrificed return rights on unsold stock to get a better margin on goods (to allow greater discounts), which resulted in a lot of written down stock.

^ I guess they anticipated that they would've sold more than what they ended up doing. Not a bad idea, per se, but rather risky. That makes much more sense than Co-op buying them out though. :)

Whatever their faults, I depended on buying my books there cos I'm still to cheap to shell out for Co-op membership even in my 4th semester

Think I'm gonna have to cave this sem...

go up to the top level of wentworth.
If you're talking about the SRC 2nd hand place then "been there, done that" and pretty bad experience. They're ridiculously priced, in worse condition than the ones I buy 2nd hand (textbookexchange) and not a great variety. Urgh.

Yeah, a friend got a few of my books in the past because she happened to be there and offered but I don't really wanna ask to use someone elses card. When the times comes and I really need to buy it myself, I won't mind forking out but right now, I seem to be able to find all my books 2nd hand :D approx saving of about 200 bucks so co-op can wait til my 3rd year :p
