The BOS says discuss is "provide points for AND/OR against". So if we get a question on journeys that asks us to "discuss" a particular statement, Do we have to provide a two sided view? My english this year told me you must do that or you will be screwed. My english teacher last year told me that when you write an essay in HSC english, only take one side and dont't sit in the middle. (unless they ask you to "argue").

So what would you do?

Thanks in advance

Yes, you should provide two contrasting points of view, but you can conclude on which is more appropriate, which one you feel more affiliated with. Discuss means just that, consider different points of view.
But of course not equally, say if one side is clearly more appropriate emphasise it, or you can make a fleeting reference to a different way of considering the question.

Just as long as you discuss different p.o.v
