"Outline the ability of DNA to repair itself."

How much depth do we have to go into for this dot point, atm I have written:
"Certain enzymes in cells detect errors in DNA and make corrections. The pathways for repair include base excision repair, repair of breaks in the DNA strand, DNA gap filling and nucleotide excision repair."

Do we have to describe each type of DNA repair?

well, an outline question wouldn't be worth that much, I don't think, so probably what you've got would be fine.

You'd at least want to talk about the enzymes involved in the process.

ie : DNA polymerase and ligase

yes mentioning enzymes is pretty important. I wouldn't expect that you have to describe each type of repair, however just be aware what the different ways are, and if you can describe them- thats good knowledge. never hurts to learn more than u need

heh, it never hurts to know too much...unless of course you're cramming!
id just mention a veyr general outline of each step and the enzymes involved - judge the depth required by the amount of marks it's worth. i doubt that this would be worth very much, so probably not much detail required.

If you think you ahve time then write as much as you can, because they aren't going to punish you for going into too much detail, but they will if you don't write enough.
