which stance? care to elaborate? cos many of there beliefs, the bible clearly says otherwise. For example salvation by works, ephesians 2 clearly states: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Infact by claiming it is by works that you are saved, suggest's that Jesus' death was pointless, if you are saved by work's why did jesus need to die for our sins?
death is generally pointless. so yeah, jesus' death was pointless. and let's face it, it was going to happen anyway.

It takes faith to believe that their works will save them. It takes faith to ignore one's biological imperative and commit acts of charity.
Also, that reads to me like you should do works of salvation and boast about them. Doesn't mean you can't do them at all.
Even if you're not Catholic, Jesus' death was still pointless. God sent down his Son (who is actually a part of him) to sacrifice himself for the salvation of humanity, despite the fact that God is omnipotent and could have done so without Jesus. Nice work.

If you combine the 4th, 7th and 15th letters of the alphabet, you get
"God"

Co-incidence ?

I think not.

I think you've missed the bus on that one, Molly! The redemption had to be through the creator. Man achieved reconciliation with God through the sacrifice of God who was made man - who endured all the tortures and temptations we have endured since the fall. Through this saviour, our free will, with all its instincts to madness and death, finds a way, truth and life.

You and Emily really need to collate your stories on this one.
So God made himself human through Jesus? But aren't all humans full of sin, so her point that Jesus was perfect was wrong?

Mary was the ideal human -the best we can all hope for. That is why she is revered as the head of saints.
I know you know this!

But don't ideal humans sin too? Isn't that the basis of the whole "everyone's a sinner" belief?

I didnt claim that she was without any sin - though none are recorded. I said that she conceived Christ as a sinless virgin. This is a powerful indication of her purity and the special relationship she had with the Holy Spirit
She's like pope plus, yo

Aren't all people born with sin? So how can one person suddenly get rid of it for the nine month period of a pregnancy?

What are you talking about? She didnt need to? She was blessed amongst women; a unique and pure human being who, though no doubt tempted, retained mastery over evil. This self-mastery qualified her as worthy to carry the son of God?
Christ was also tempted many times in His life - though divine, he was also a man

Give yourself over to Christ's compassion and mercy, Moll.
