Ok, I love Donnie Darko the movie- have watched it many many times (like the other night on SBS hehehe and a million and one times on dvd hehehe)

but what i don't get ... is how people DON'T UNDERSTAND IT..
its like people not getting the Matrix.

It's quite easy to understand if you /watch/ the movie. (well, heh, the first time i still got it, but my attention was fixated on Jake.. Mmm Jake Gylenhaal)
It's a simple plot, sure it's got symbolism and all that crap, but its dead easy if you watch it..
Its a fictional movie for crying out loud

i always saw it as donnie trying to change the destiny of those around him.

Hes trying to fight religiona and fate, trying to prove it wrong, trying to force people to find their own path in life rather than predisposed ones...

i dunno, then at the end i think it has something to do with knowing too much, and when u know too much you cease to exist.

i only like this movie cuz of "mad world" played towrds the end.

What a crazy movie! Lol it's good though, well sorta. I've seen it twice now and I still don't get it! I understand about the time travelling and stuff but it's just weird! Why was that creature always there controlling him?!! And what was with the old woman that wrote the book? :S

HAHA! in a nutshell, donnie "darco" is a bi-curious teenager who is partially attracted to his sister maggie. god frowns upon this and he commands a UFO to crash into donnie "darco"s bedroom. this basically fucks him up, because if you watch the deleted scenes he shoots up so many times in this movie. that actually explains the bunny wabbit. also, his parents werent too fussed about his death by OD at the end of the film, meaning he was clearly adopted.
