i know a plastic surgeon who owns his own airstrip and private jet.

also know an opthamologist who brings in approx $ 6 mil a year without breaking a sweat working in private.

yes doctors can be filthy rich, but most are probably earning around 200-500k pa.

i have met these people irl so no bull.
I'm related to an opthalmologist. He earns a crapload and yes, once you get there, the job is pretty cushy (although I wouldn't say 'without breaking a sweat'. Operating on someone's eyes always carries a fair bit of risk :p)

Having said that, he was about.. 40 I think before he could reach that stage and before that, it was a lot of hard work and sucking up etcetc and he actually told me that if he could do it again, he'd have gone for a less competitive specialty. I agree that a lot of specialists make a killing but it often takes a lot of hard work to get to that point.
