+ what advantages are there by doing scom with baulko students specifically? iirc the baulko focused class follows the baulko scope and sequence and help them out with baulko-specific assignments which might not align with your school

Is that fr? I was told the classes just go faster than normal to finish the course earlier than mixed.
a lot of tutoring places go faster than normal - mine is school-specific + almost everyone in my class is from one school so we're towards almost the end of the maths ext 1 courses (and we've already finished almost all the advanced topics ages ago apart from stats i think), but we go in the order of the scope and sequence from my school (and also do exam prep for the exams accordingly). scom does something similar, in the sense that school-specific classes cater directly to the school i believe (which is the entire reason why tutoring places have school-specific classes in the first place)

Is it drastically different? I just need a face to face to facilitate the content I'm supposed to learn for prelims, and I've found others (e.g: Matrix) to be too repetitive and slow progressing. Kurt is the so called hell of tuition so I'm staying far away from them so realistically, I only have Dr Du as my mathematics tutor and I don't mind their online approach (As I have Charles Lee teaching my class)- On another note, Isn't the whole point of doing tuition is to explore the content that will be assessed in HSC? So either way I'll still achieve the right content for the exams, or is there something different they do to manipulate their 'syllabus' to the one for the state?
i mean, in the end it might not really matter since as you said the content being taught for all maths courses is the same across all schools (and hence all tutoring centres), i think the main difference is that it might just prioritise the way baulko is doing stuff, etc. i'm just wondering why you would need two maths tutorings online, because if you need two there's something wrong with the first one you're going to, or you're just spending extra money on something you don't need. why don't you go face to face with du - you like it and if you're fine with the pace they're at, so just do that instead? face to face in a classroom setting > online anyway for maths
what made you consider scom in the first place if you're already doing du, if i may ask?

On another note, does troung facilitate acceleration students? I've noticed you guys quite like the establishment, and I did notice that their resources are quite nice
they've got different levels of classes (i think four or five?) depending on both your school and your maths ability, though all of them teach content ahead. being in the accel class meant i started the mx1 course halfway year 9 (we started off with trig and the unit circle - did all the advanced trig then trig identities), and there's the specialist class (you need an exam to get in) which goes even faster - they prioritise finishing the course early for students capable for it so that you have multiple terms left in the school year to revise and do the exam style qns (i think they even once said to my class that specialist is focused towards getting its kids state ranks?)

they revamped their resources too, i think they're nice as well lol

ngo and sons is going so slow now compared to before 😭😭 for specialist they no longer do an exam to get in, they just put all the accelerated students in the specialist class (which makes no sense coz what’s the point, it’s still accelerated then, all they did was rename it) and also for specialist apparently we aren’t gonna do the year 11 course until term 4 of next year which sucks. the accelerated class finished the year 10 course by term 3 of year 9 and then they started specialist in early sept but they decided to do the ENTIRE y10 course all over again before starting y11

So pretty much the whole reason why I want to go to so many is because I'll be doing 3U a year earlier, and the stress has really come to me- I know a few people who succeeded in their HSC in my area and they all went to tuition F2F even though they are about 300kms from the outskirts of SYD, and I figured why not do the same bc I don't do anything at home but procrastinate anyways. Du goes about 2-3 terms ahead so I've been doing 3U a while now, but the teacher is pretty damn talented and is quite entertaining while he teaches so I'm contemplating if F2F is the best move, especially given the fact that I can't just rewatch the session on my on demand to quickly find something I'm missing in the homework. On the other hand, F2F is apparently also helpful in being more focussed and therefore won't rely on repeatedly rewatching a video- But If I keep Dr Du as well in the case that i may have forgotten something, allows me to be confident in applying skills from lectures/lessons as I have additional resources to help me. Pretty much sums up why.
why cant u do du only then? what’s the point of going scom as well?

what in the world??? that's so weird, glad i stayed in accel then (they give us the specialist booklets anyway). the spec class for my cohort is like practically done with mx1 so it's strange they're not maintaining the pace for younger years. have you talked to them about it, or there's any valid reason? that's so weird. oh i was also wondering who you have as a teacher?

i think it depends on the atmosphere - for example, if you go to a selective school everyone wants to learn and consolidate the stuff ahead so that by the time they do it in school it's just a matter of doing textbook qns and already starting exam revision. a lot of tutoring places also offer sufficient exam practice without having to tap into doing past paper qns from trials that can be saved for later.
tutoring is also for people who don't think they can handle the pace of school or they struggle with school stuff as well. for me, i'm not super academically gifted so i need the time in tutoring to learn ahead to consolidate what i learn later in school (also because i want that extra revision time)

f2f is definitely the way to go - it was much easier to focus then than the zoom lessons i had to do during the lockdowns.

going to extra tutoring for the additional resources again feels counterproductive because one tutoring centre should give you the resources you need (and if you really need the extra resources, then just look to your textbook and past papers, but du/scom separately should have enough). i still think you should stick with dr du and just go face to face, but if you want to try scom go for it - just don't end up doing both for a prolonged period of time

yea i haven't heard of her (i go to the parra one) + my teacher is mr mai, who's one of the senior directors. definitely try and bring it up - if i were one of the kids there i'd be really annoyed
