Because all the islands that the schoolies cruises visit are part of New Caledonia, and therefore a French dependency, that should logically mean that the legal drinking age is 16.

Which means, for all us 17yr old people.......

GET HAMMERED ON THE ISLANDS, LEGALLY!!!

Someone correct me if my presumptions are wrong, but have some evidence to back it up please!

The only problem is my friend is that you are going to have trouble finding clean water let alone alcohol on the islands that the cruise stops at.

They are not like the Fijian islands...

Official site regarding New Caledonia says only tap water in rural areas may be unsafe for drinking. So Noumea would be fine, and the other two should be ok considering they would be big tourist spots, so they should also have a few good bars and stuff around, no?

Noumea is a CITY...

There are shops, cafe's and i'm assuming bar's as well.

Lifou, on the other hand is just a beach.. with not much else.

What stops do you have? The islands differ greatly

Umm, I know it's a city, hence why I said it would be ok.

Stops at Noumea, Lifou Island and Isle of Pines

I am very aware of what Noumea is.

And that does not change my opinion...you would be lucky to find clean water. Once you get there you will see what I mean. It is not the nicest city going around.

As for the islands...no they are not big tourist destinations, there are no bars, and the only shops are little stalls set up by the locals.

What I am basically trying to say is, that your theory of being able to drink legally on the islands is pointless because there is nothing to drink. Noumea maybe, if you want to go and find a bar to drink at, but we never found one. And its not going to be cheap.
