Just get it done quick, it's pretty difficult to find someone who can and will do it. Your locations says mid North Coast, so I assume you're somewhere between Laurieton and Kempsey; if so you're using the very same phone book as me. Trust me, few of them will actually advertise that they tag electrical equipment. The only few actually listed under "Electrical Tagging" are two guys in Old Bar and the company that make the units to do the tagging.
You just need your average electricial to do it, one lives just up our street so I'll be getting him to do it. I'm still waiting for a new PC though, so it'll probably get done moments before I leave for College.

yeah they do 'turf' boys rooms but they don't damage it - just things like pulling all their clothes out of the cupboards, turning mattresses upside down etc. sometimes they'll even move everything out of a person's room and set it up in a courtyard or something... however i'd say a lot of the time a room gets turfed to teach someone a lesson if they have done something stupid - just says 'pull your head in'
How common is this? It's the type of thing I'd easily expect to happen to me, being an idiot an all. I've seen enough barracks-room movies to know that this shit isn't cool. One minute guys are 'turfing' you room, next minute your being held down with a sheet and everyones beating you with soap. THAT is why drunks should only be nerds.

not sure if it happens at colleges other than albies... and i've heard of people being turfed 3 times in a day (but that was just shit stirring it wasn't trying to teach anyone a lesson)
and its not always done when people are drunk - and i've never heard of anyone being held down and beat with soap - or anything of that kind either...
i guess the boys at albies just get used to it and see it as part of college life (and for most it wouldn't get done more than maybe once of twice in first year)
don't get scared - college will be the time of your life! and don't think it's anything like american movies etc. cos it's not... you'll be right!

i live in laurieton and went to CHHS. i'm sure I will be able to get my things tagged before I leave. I wouldn't have much stuff - just computer, printer, phone charger, clock, power board etc.

Roughly how much would it cost - not a lot i hope - i'm very poor LOL

mail is deliver to college every day at 2pm by the UNE mail service. The mail is normally sorted by who ever gets there after the mail bag arives and is sorted into pigon holes acording the last names. All you need to do is address your mail to -
Duval College, UNE
Armidale, NSW
2351

You might note the UNE area code is different to that of the Armidale one. If you put the Armidale one you will normall get your mail a day latter. There is PO boxes on campus at 'Campus Essentials' which is the newsagent/post office on campus in the union arcade. I am not sure how much these are though.

Information like this is covered in the college hand book, which will be in your room when you arive.

Well every one in college i know has things like that posted. I personally have my centrelink sent to college and my mum redirects my bank mail etc. But if you dont want to do that, as i said there is PO Boxes on campus near the post office.

Resident Fellows:

I was reading my local newspaper (Camden Haven Courier) today and it had an article about two of this year's Residential Fellows: Krystal 'Diddle' Drury and Adam Baker.

Looking after 220 university students for a year is not everyone's idea of a good time but two young local people have had no hesitation in putting up their hands for the job.

Krystal 'Diddle' Drury, 20, of Bonny Hills and Adam Baker, 21, of Ross Glen have been selected for the prestigious position of Resident Fellows of Duval College at The University of New England.

Following their written applications a university selection panel which included the principal Mrs Edwina Ridgeway interviewed Krystal and Adam for their suitability for the position.

Krystal, a third year psychology student and Adam, a fourth year Bachelor of Primary Education student impressed the panel with their leadership qualities and communication skills as well as their empathy for student needs.

"It's a very responsible position. Anyone who knows anything about colleges would know it's a pretty big thing," Krystal said.

"I'm excited about it and pretty prud that I was selected. It's a pretty big opportunity to become more involved in the university and help other people out."

Being a Resident Fellow is not all hard work however and it does have its rewards.

Instead of a single study bedroom Krystal and Adam will now each have the use of a self-contained flat with an online computer, microwave oven and refrigerator.

"It's not really what you can get out it personally. It's more that you help someone else," Adam said.

It did have a picture of Krystal and Adam - if you want to see what they look like - I can send it to you - just pm me

Simple solution: Lock your door and don't act like an idiot :)
You watch too many movies

There is no free soap in college we all hoard what little we find not beat people with it. Just messing with you yes all that goes on if you want to be a part of it put your hand up to join otherwise no one will look at you twice. I've had non-drinkers say they had a great time at college and i've had party animals say they've had great times so it's up to you what kind of time you will have.

I've seen people (not just guys) throwing up in hallways (me included due to stomach bug), people peeing in the hallway (not me), tvs being thrown out of closed third storey room windows, alcohol poisoning, psychotic episodes, minor overdoses, guys running to other colleges to do things and then photograph it, you know frat type activites etc etc. And this was just during the first few weeks haha. Doesn't matter what college you go to if you haven't seen this you're not looking, except maybe the tv through the window he was a special case. Oh yeah also nudie runs they exist too.

Like I said you want in put your hand up you don't want in just keep to your friends then and don't go looking for it, it cetainly isn't looking for you.

If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would get done, huh?

I also noticed you guys eat awfully early ... I mean, 5.30 on the Wednesday?
lol nursing home hours really! but you do get used to eating early (and then develop bad habits like getting a pizza at 9pm cos you are hungry again)

but if you think about it - the kitchen opens at probably 6ish in the morning to prepare for breakfast, and by the time they finish at night there is at least an hour of clean up to do - so finishing dinner at 7 means the staff can't go home till probably 8 - any later than that would be a pretty big ask for staff who themselves are uni students - or people who have families to go home to...

as for study time - you just gotta find time to do it yourself - college can be very distracting - not just functions etc. but people always wanting to have a chat/watch tv etc... it can be very tempting to say "oh i'll just watch this tv show then go do my assignment" and it usually won't get done properly... so yeah it really just comes down to yourself and your own discipline to do some work - if you are doing a degree with not many hours, you may find it easier to get your work done during the day when others are at lectures so that when everyone is around at night you can hang out and socialise..

Well given that there's nothing happening afterwards until 8.30, it's probably dinner and social gathering. And if they expected us to start eating at 5,30, they'd probably have to start cooking at about 1.30
You'll soon work out a system that suits you, we used to have breakfast real early, then go to sleep, wake up late afternoon go have some left overs from the previous night then pick up a BBQ pack or go shopping for a big gathering around 1-3am at the Sports Union where we would eat dinner before sitting around and having breakfast then going to sleep again. It was a surprise if we ate dinner there much at all, usually out around that time. Sometimes we'd drive to a 24hour food place around midnight, and while it was around Dodgey Lees opposite Sevens/Mojos/Whatever it's called now used to be the place most people would get late night snacks from.

College food was not really my scene, whatever EP was having Austin would be having as leftovers, usually we'd just run in and pick up whatever didn't look too damaging to our health to keep us going until 2am or breakfast.

i'm not so annoyed that they make noise - its just the amount of noise they make - they dont seem to have any respect for those trying to study.

Isn't there a "curfew" on the noise level? does that makes sense? Can we claim they arent following the handbook even though it says "... your neighbour may be trying to sleep or study". Because technically we aren't neighbours but the noise level is still affecting people.

my room overlooks second courtyard (i live in top f).

Study? at this time of year?

You'll find curfew exists only during exam periods.
