another way i heard was they add all the ranks, and the lowest number is the dux...but this is crap since ur disadvantaged if u do 12 units.

They add up points for rankings in ours. Thing I don't like is that you get less points for coming first in an Extension course than you do in the Standard course. Seems weird to do it that way. *shrug*

My school calculated dux at the end of Yr 12 assuming the dux would get the highest UAI, I didn't so they had to put 2 names up on the Dux Honour Board.... sorta destroys the point. Schools should either have a Dux which is decided internally within the school without the UAI counting, or wait until the UAI is released before awarding it.

dux is calculated by point system..

for som reason comin 1st in advanced english gives u 40points
but comin 1st in ext2 math gets us 20 points..

where do they come up with that??? i mean isn't ext2 maths worth 4u?? so shouldn't it be more?

Well obviously its 40 points for a 2 unit and 20 points for a 1 unit. Der.

Well I came third, after topping 4 subs and placing in two others....just because two tops were extension subs! I agree, it is annoying that English Advanced gets more points than Ext 1 and 2! Same goes for history, even though I topped 5 u there

Our Dux is heaps smart though...topped 10 u out of 12

well...no. ext2 maths gets counted as 2units(so does 3u maths, which adds up to 4 units, 2u maths not counted)

it might be because english is compulsory...
