I'll be speaking to all you sexy ladies and gentlemen about group work at the day. Good chance to meet new people at the lunch.
Also anyone getting mentored? Anyone have me as a mentor?

Also if you come, make sure you sign up to ComSoc *shameless self-promotion*.

EDIT: whoops, sorry. realised that I accidently posted in the general forum at first

Don't we have to come? I can't imagine anyone not going... really. Me and the other person i know doing b.ec are going- so that's two. I'm doing the peer mentoring program, but for economics.

Will ComSoc be there as well that day?

No, it's not compulsory. Good to attend though.
ComSoc will most certainly be there :)
The peer mentoring program is across all eco & bus degrees - primarily they try to match you based on majors.

No. Tutoring is...tutoring. Mentoring is helping first year's adapt to uni. Join the mentoring program if you have trouble starting convos.

How would we know which is you? (Sry I'm new here I don't really know...) Is Stazi your real name? and...we are allowed to choose our mentor? What if lots of people want to sign up to you...and it's full....
...They put you into a undergraduate peer mentoring group according to what area of study/discipline you'll be majoring in, for me it's economics because i'm doing b.ec. It depends on your degree... if you're doing b.comm or b.int.stud. for example you may not know yet. Stazi would probably be doing marketing (?) i'm guessing. You don't get to choose your mentor... the person I started speaking to about it put me in their group, so it just worked out sort of.

I cut my holiday short just to come back for orientation, and now they've lost my luggage and I have no clothes.

It better be good

Hey Staz, are you speaking at E+B day as part of the peer mentoring panel? If so, I would have been speaking alongside you... alas, i turned Jill down, as she happened to ring me at a moment when i was a tad stressed and overworked.

But yes, some of you may also be getting me as a peer mentor as well. I promise good times for all. Or at least beer.

Oh, and in the spirit of shameless self promotion: all you aspiring marketing students... make sure you join SELECT Marketing. Thanks (in part) to yours truly, we have new big sponsors this year, which means lots of good marketing-based reasons to join. But hey, even if you don't do Marketing, you can still join for the free stuff!

lol, it's true!

latvia - my real name is Stas. Most people on here know what I look like and my name so didn't bother mentioning it (I was also on the front cover of the SMH offers guide - this started by inevitable rise to fame. I'll be doing autographs after my speech)

Yeah that's it.
SELECT is teh gh3y. COMSOC is teh secks.
Actually join both - you'd be crazy not to join select if you do marketing. ComSoc is also appropriate, though.

Snakeoils - have you seen me at the mentoring training things? Who are you?

havent actually noticed you at peer mentoring, mainly because i dont really know what your mug looks like... but saw your name on message board, and then your name came up when I was chatting to Jill... etc etc, lets get married now, etc.

I'm bound to see you at some stage over the next few days, at any rate! Look for the nametag that says Blake... or Snake, if i can get away with it. Don't want to frighten the kiddies though.

my mug is all over bos :p
And as for marriage....sure, why not. As long as I get daily gay secks.

Snake would be great. They can ask "why is your name Snake"? And you can pull down your pants.

so Stazi or any of u mentors, is everyone in first year appointed a mentor after the faculty orientation? Are you given a list of names or do we approach you.
How exactly does it work?

hey, I got my mentor when I enrolled - Nathalie - whoever that is! Can't wait to meet her! When I enrolled with Eco & Bus faculty we had the option of signing up for peer mentoring...so I just assumed everyone who wanted to already had a mentor :S
