I was entertaining this unusual thought in a lecture the other day.

What do you do for work if you major in this? What's the pay like? Does this have much relation to finance (in the long run)?

No, especially if it means ANYTHING more to do with murray.

But again, it was simply to entertain the (crazy) notion. I mean where could you go to work post-uni with this major?

I only know one person majoring in econometrics. A 4th yr econ honours student. Omg....the thought makes me shudder, personally.

A family friend is a Statistician for American Express. Annual salary around 140k.

i cant believe this. as shocking as this is, im finding myself considering metrics as a major now :eek: the thought only occured to me yesterday. sigh

it would be goo dif they had a few econometric subjects in the finance major that were directly related to finance....

its just that i want a major in economics and i heard that either finance or metrics goes well with that. Finance requires aact. URGH!

I've skimmed the textbook and looked at my friend's work for ECMT. It isnt earth shatteringly exciting but it doesnt seem as hellish and everyone makes it out to be.

Looking at the accounting textbook and tute work makes me wanna gnaw my own brains out...

Besides, isnt there the enticing factor of having Tig as lecturer? lol

well if you think it looks easy.. then do it. i found it to be the worst educational experience of my entire life :)

and yes, the murray smith factor makes me wanna scream from what i've heard...sigh

yes...the Murray Smith factor does make you want to scream. Do yourself a favour. Don't do ECMT!
