Hey guys,

This thread has probably been done before, but anyway, can I get some serious economic (HSC) help? I get most of the concepts (like BOP, CAD etc) and everything but when I put it into my own words it sounds like something a five year old can spit out =__='' I really need to find a way of getting concepts and everything else down onto paper in my own words. I was fine in year 11 but either it got harder or I just fail horribly (probably both) because now I'm struggling to get above 70% TT__TT

Honestly, I do enjoy economics to a certain degree (maybe that might be because of the class and teacher) and usually when I enjoy a subject I tend to do better in it because I can understand concepts better but I just can't seem to grasp concepts properly these days which is frustrating! I figure I need to find a way to enjoy economics more or have a better way of understanding concepts other wise I will fail it terribly and I won't let that happen.

So any one have any tips to understanding economics? Aside from standard study?

Kind Regards,

dolphy

Usually when someone cannot enunciate economic ideas very well, it is because they do not understand them very well.

So you really need to understand the idea inside out in order to explain it effectively. Unfortunately this means more reading, more studying, more effort. There is no silver bullet, but I would recommend reading things from a variety of sources.

Try a few different textbooks

Read about concepts on wikipedia

The idea is to look for different ways of saying things. Perhaps your teacher or textbook does not frame a concept in a way that helps you understand. This is common.

If you understand a concept but simply cannot communicate it; well I would say this is more of a general problem you have. I am not quite sure how you could fix this other than to say "practice makes perfect". Maybe try a few practice essays.
