Hey guys, just wondering is it possible to do the 1st year of Electrical then transfer into Civil?
Are the subjects/classes the same for the 1st year of Civil and Electrical?

Im wondering because currently usyd has an E12 scheme that you can get into electrical with an atar of 80 if you get in, and i want to use that as an advantage to get into my course.

thanks.

The E12 scheme will get you into Elec eng, but not guarantee you Civil.

Clauses 2 & 3 apply - http://sydney.edu.au/handbooks/engineering/rules/faculty_resolutions.shtml

The subjects you do in first year EE are a bit different to Civil, and there would be some backtracking involved

Compare

and

You would need to catch up on geology and engineer mechanics

The engineering mechanics in particular is essential if you were trying to transfer into 2nd year civil. If you transferred at end of 2013 i would strongly recommend that you do engineering mechanics in summer school Jan 2014
